Town References

I like the idea of the environment mirroring the way Matilda sees the world. I kind of want the town to be surrounded by tall trees so that it feels very isolated. Matilda is never really taken anywhere so her world is only as far as she can walk.

I want the town buildings to look like any small town you might go through on a road trip. It would have a courthouse in the middle with a surrounding square of small shops that are mostly antique shops, small cafes or old style ice cream parlors.

I picture the house that Miss Honey used to live in with her aunt has become overrun with weeds and a little run down with just her aunt living there almost as if the house is trying to make itself unappealing to keep any poor unsuspecting person from disturbing the Trunchebull.
