School references

The school that the Trunchebull runs I picture as being similar to early 20th century public school buildings with multiple stories and brick exteriors. It would be a place of emphasis on traditional learning, without real consideration about how well the students were learning but more on if they fit the standard testing. I picture Miss Honey's classroom as being the one bright spot in the school where she has somehow managed to create a nurturing air.

The first thing I related the severe school that Matilda attends is The Prufrock Preparatory school in the Series of Unfortunate Events book, which is described as having buildings that look like gravestones. I don't think I'd push it that far, but I like the idea of it having very severe Gothic architectural influences, and for it to seem impossibly large and imposing, especially from the perspective of a small child.
